DIANA Krall mesmerised Athenians to support the causes of AURORA - Together Against Hematological Diseases
On 30 June 2022, as part of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, Athenians were there, in a packed Odeon of Herodes Atticus, to welcome Diana Krall, the greatest modern jazz performer, who sang under the Acropolis to support the causes of AURORA - Together Against Hematological Diseases, which contributes to the fight against leukemia and other blood diseases, by offering equipment to hospitals and providing accommodation to hematological patients.
AURORA President, Mr. Clemente Pinedo, welcomed the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou and her partner, Mr. Pavlos Kotsonis, as well as the Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with his wife, Mrs. Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis.
Among those who were present and applauded Diana Krall were the Deputy Minister for Contemporary Culture, Mr. Nicholas Giatromanolakis, the former Minister of Culture , Mrs. Olga Kefalogianni, the former Queen Anna-Maria, the artistic director of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, Mrs. Katerina Evangelatou, representatives of charitable organisations, business and culture, and of civil society.
During the concert, an emotional Diana Krall thanked AURORA for the invitation, and said that she was delighted to accept it since she too supports the fight against leukemia. On a personal note she spoke about her mother's battle with the disease, the difficulties patients are facing and their need to “return home”, which makes AURORA’s contribution all the more valuable.
After the concert, a charity dinner was held in honour of the artist, which was the perfect ending to one of the most important, in terms of artistic significance, evenings of the summer. All the proceeds will be donated to support the Hematology Clinic of Evangelismos Hospital.
